When I was a child...

When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up childish ways.

Me and baby brother

Hello! I wanted to share with you, some of my poems and songs from when I was a little girl. My pen name was Daisy Lucille. But there is a story behind that pen name. When we found out that my mom was pregnant with her second child, my parents decided that if the baby was a girl, her name would be Lucille Daisy. She would be named after two of my great grandmothers. We would call her Lucy. Well, we had girl baby showers. We had a girl nursery, full of girl clothes, new and hand–me–downs from when I was a baby. And then exactly seven days before our baby was born, mom had an ultrasound and the ultrasound showed that our baby was going to be a …boy! Needless to say all of those cute hairbows and dresses got exchanged for boy clothes and the nursery got changed all in seven days. The boy was born weighing in at ten pounds and twelve ounces and we named him.... "Purple Eye", just kidding, that name came later. Well as the years have gone by we have joked with Purple Eye and called him “Lucy”. But I have to say I liked the name a lot, but it makes Purple Eye mad any time he hears the name Lucille Daisy -  so I went with Daisy Lucille. Sorry Bro.
And so here goes some of my writings from years gone by.
A poem   Age: 9 years old
I never got around to naming this one, but I think that “What would Heaven be like” would be appropriate.
When the birds sing I begin to dream what would Heaven be like. Will birds sing and will I be a precious human being. Would there be apple trees green.  Mountains so high they would be in the sky. What would heaven be like.  Would their  be horses running and would people be coming. I know Jesus is loving. I wonder what would Heaven be like. Would I be counting sheep or would I be leaping for joy. Would people be thanking the Lord and would I be loving.
                                                What would Heaven be like……
                                                                Daisy Lucille
I know that many of the words are spelled the wrong way, but this is the way I wrote it when I was nine years old.
 Home Sweet Home     Age: Little
A blue sky is britty pretty
I sure don’t like the city
Milking the Cow
Not knowing what’s going on in town
Liking the country life
Never seen a street light
Not wanting to live in the city
Country living is for me
Mother making a fried chicken dinner
People  in the city wants a server.
Knowing every year
Country life is for better.
Staying at home eating
Fried apple pies
Some peplo people think
City life is nice
I was born in Tennessee
Some may born in New York
Or New Jersey
While mommy kisses me on the cheek
Others in the city go play
Hide and seek.
Daisy Lucille
I know that my computer is having a hard time with all of this misspelled words and bad grammar. I was still a little girl and I didn't know how to speall spell or how to build sentences.
Sometimes I would forget that I even had a pen name and I would sign my name - Grace.
I know for a fact that this is not all that I have written. If I searched long enough I can probably find a hundred or more. Writing little poems, songs or short stories is what I called school even before I began school.  And now here I am a home schooled highschooler. And I don’t think that my grammar or spealling  spelling has improved .

See ya later, Gator,
Grace
