I got a Pawpaw

Here is a poem we wrote for my Pawpaw.

I Got a Pawpaw

I got a pawpaw that lives that down the hill.
He won't drive a Chevrolet and never will.

He used to have long hair and it flowed everywhere.
Whether he was on the the track or on the town having a snack.

He use to wear cut off jeans.
And lay in the sun and smoke a pack of  Winstons.

Finally he decided to settle down
and married a little filly and moved out of town.

He use to work for TDOT and hunted big bucks
and he even drove a pick- up truck.

He likes to ride his John Deere,
And eat Cornbread, Soup beans, Taters and a Mater.

On the weekends he drives Miss "R" to T.J. Maxx,
And he waits patiently as she rummages through clothes and racks.

He loves the heat in Summer,
When we always hear a tiller or mower.

And on the days when it comes a rain,
We also have a partner for our Monopoly game.

Tormenting children is his game,
but if they get in trouble don't look him to blame.

He is gray that marks his wisdom indeed.
And he's there to help if you have a need.

Pawpaw he is full of pride,
When his grandchildren come running in his arms opened wide.

Short on words he maybe,
But never a better man comes from Tennessee.

His birthday is Wednesday and so hopefully I will have some pictures of him.
