Update

Ever since the week before Christmas, one thing after another has come up. The week before Christmas, I had a cold. The week of Christmas, we had the stomach bug. The week after Christmas, we  had the cold again. This last week was the coldest week in 50 years during which, our cow, Ethel, got sick and died. So, now, we are trying recover from loss of sleep and we all have cabin fever. We had been cooped up for the past several weeks. But we were finally able to get out this weekend.

This past weekend  was my Uncle 'B's birthday. Here is a poem the whole family wrote for him.

Uncle "B"

We still love him even though he gets chicken and steak
And dad gets collard greens and carrot cake.

We know he's Mamaw’s favorite, that’s true
But if we didn’t have him, we would be so blue.

On his mule he comes a chargin’
To save the day from a little boredom.

He went to Louisiana to close a deal on a car
But on that deal he didn’t get very far.

Even though he is a cautious person, he drives fast
And he turns the music up loud to make the time pass.

You’ll get a knock at your door if in your yard is a toilet,
Because he’s an inspector and you’ll be in for it.

He’s always ready to lend a hand
Keeping cows company until 2 A.M.

He’s good at cracking jokes
And aggravating his folks.

You’re the best Uncle, Son, and Brother no lyin’
You’re the best ever Uncle _____
