My birthday

Saturday I had a little birthday party and meal. But, Today is my actual birthday. I had a wonderful time Saturday and I didn't know that Sixteen would be this fun.
All week the family have been trying to keep it a secret of what they were giving me. Although I didn't tell them, I figured it out. My parents bought a team of Halflinger horses and a wagon. And they gave me a horse.

Saturday morning dad rode the horse home as a surprise!

It has been a couple years since I last rode, so I'm still a little nervous. I did have riding lessons for several years.

I named my horse "Joots". This was Judy Garland's nickname.

Here are the birthday decorations.

My brother made 40 bottles of homemade Ginger Beer (a strong, non-alcoholic, ginger ale)
It was so good.

This is my ''Somewhere over the rainbow" music box. I also got a " Somewhere over the rainbow'' sign from my mom and pops. The gave me old movies, two pairs of shoes and lots of clothes, too!

Here is my Mickey and Judy poster from Toothie. And below is my Fascinating Rhythm sheet music also from Toothie.
I also received Gershwin duets from Purple Eye and my  Mamaw and Papaw gave me money and are taking me shopping tomorrow.
Other gifts included money, a hat and some more clothes!

Here is my white gold, Turquoise diamond ring from my grandmother. My Popaw gave me a hundred dollars, too!

This my poppy. (My mothers grandfather)

My great- aunt.

Uncle B and me.

My great- grandmother (My Pops grandmother)

Grandmama R and Mamaw S.

For my birthday dinner I had a Cajun Jambalaya, beans, salad, and hushpuppies. For dessert I had mint hot fudge cake and it was so good!

There are my Sixteen candles. This was Grandma's idea.

They made me blow them out twice! Blowing out candles gets harder and harder every year. Has anybody noticed that? Or is it just me?

Little Bro and me.

I love my Coca- Cola box!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't know that Sixteen would be so wonderful! Too bad that it only comes once in a lifetime.

Thank you everybody!
I loved everything and had a wonderful time!

P.S. My Pop's birthday is Friday. He will be 4?.

Ode to Grace

Here is poem written by my Uncle for  my 12th birthday

ODE TO GRACE

__________ Grace ___________ is a girl so sweetly,

She's always prim, proper and neatly.

You never see her standing still,

If you need help, she will,

She's good at everything she does,

From sewing to giving hugs.

A little girl she is no more,

Uncle B, Aunt J, Grace, and Purple Eye 2002

For she is the sum of 3 times 4.

_________ Grace born in the fall,

of the __________ children she's the oldest of them all.

She has grown  so beautiful, charming, and tall,

Her maturity is way beyond her years,

When we think of how quickly she's grown, it brings us to tears,

Kind and generous to all she knows,

Into a Godly woman she grows,

With a great Mother and Father she'll grow to be the best,

She'll be able to handle whatever be the test.

UNCLE B

Thanks Uncle B, You're totally awesome!

Maturity

In 10 days I will turn Sweet Sixteen. I always thought that I would be more mature at Sixteen. At thirteen I thought that I would be more mature than I am now. And now I hear eighteen isn't any better.
Mom is already saying "My baby won't be with me much longer" or " Wasn't it only yesterday your learning to walk." I guess its a mom thing.
Being the oldest child of the family I guess I'm sort of a guinea pig. But, I have to say I have some swell parents.

Oh! Just so you know the picture above has nothing to do with this post. I just thought that it was cute!

Some FAQ's

Here are some FAQs.  Well I don’t have any FAQs, but I thought I would answer some questions anyway.

Q.     What is your favorite food?
A.      This is such a hard question; it all depends on the mood that I’m in. But probably Pioneer Woman’s recipe; Artichoke tomato pasta.

                Q.  What is your favorite song?

A really funny kid

This morning at the breakfast table, 3 year old Rosie started to sing "Yankee Doodle Dandy.'' She got the lyrics a little messed up. This is what she sang:

"I'm Yankee Doodle Bambie,
Yankee Doodle do or die.
A real live nephew of my knucle Sam.
I was born on the first of July.
I've got a Yankee Doodle Sweet tart.
She's my Yankee Doodle joy.
Yankee Doodle went to London
just to ride the ponies.
I'am a Yankee Doodle Joy.
